Late 19th Century
Heavy Cardboard

Double-sided set of 12 children's toy blocks, each with a broad image of the White City section of the exposition. The White City was notable for its stucco building walls and the bright street lights. We found this set, unlabeled, in a shop in New Hampshire. Its provenance was not easily ascertained--it seemed to be a World's Fair but it required reaching out to several World's Fair scholars around the U.S. to identify it. There is much wear to the edges of the blocks but they are all intact. Includes a wooden "frame."
