With over thirty years of travelling back roads together, John and I have evolved an aesthetic that harmonizes antique country furniture, garden and architectural elements, folk art, and decorative objects.

We relish the unhurried pace and the sheer quirkiness of roads less travelled in our search for  special pieces that display simple, honest beauty through  form and function, color and wear. We have great affection for original paint and are drawn to the rich patina that only years of living can express.  And we especially love bringing home to the garden and garden to the home, connecting culture with the pleasures of nature.

Gathering 18th, 19th and early 20th century country antiques for the Back Roads Collection is a full-time passion, limited only by the realities of our professional lives. John teaches college students, conducts scientific research, and writes, and I oversee senior services in our community, specializing in case management, counseling and advocacy. Despite these commitments, we divide our family time between a cozy one hundred-year old home in Sea Cliff, New York, and a two-hundred year old farmhouse in West Cornwall, Connecticut. Whenever we're able to, we take a little time  out to enjoy back roads.

Antiques from both settings may be purchased on line or viewed by appointment.  Smaller pieces may be shipped.  In addition, we exhibit at several shows annually in New York and Connecticut and are always interested in purchasing fine country antiques.  We'd love to hear from you.
